My Services
With You Every Step of the Way
I opened my private practice in 2017 and have been working in mental health in the greater Sacramento area since 2012. Whether you’re looking for a bit of counseling, or need professional assistance overcoming a traumatic experience - your well-being is my number one priority. I work with you to understand your hopes and create realistic goals for care. I welcome all clients with a variety of counseling needs; however, listed below are a few of my specialties.
I am offering in-person and virtual sessions. My fee is $185 for a 55 minute session. Longer sessions are available upon request for an additional fee. I accept cash, checks, and all major credit cards. Fees are due at the time of service. I will provide statements for insurance reimbursement upon request, but please contact your insurance provider before beginning sessions to arrange out of network care and understand all risks associated with submitting to insurance.
Sex and Intimacy
Getting the conversation started about issues involving sex can be a great first step to finding greater satisfaction, pleasure, and confidence around all things with sex and intimacy. Here are some common concerns or topics that lead people to seek sex therapy:
· Sex and intimacy after an affair
· Uneven sex drive or different sexual desires between partners
· Talking about sex with your partner for greater sexual satisfaction
· Surviving and thriving after negative sexual experiences, abuse, or trauma
· Restarting sex after pregnancy
· Sex and fertility challenges
· LGBTQ issues
· Sex after prostate cancer, breast cancer, female cancers, other illnesses, or injury.
· Unique sexual concerns
· Alternative life styles (e.g., polyamory, swinging, BDSM, fetishes)
· Low sexual desire
· Premature Ejaculation, Erectile Dysfunction, etc.
· Arousal and orgasm difficulties
· Coping with pain during sex (vaginismus, dyspareuna, etc.)
I provide a non-judgmental space for you to better understand and explore your own sexuality or address relational concerns involving sexuality, sexual functioning, and/or intimacy through talk therapy (no physical touching). I work with all genders, sexual orientations, lifestyles, and cultures. I am currently completing hours towards my AASECT Sex Therapy Certification.
Perinatal Counseling
Whether you are experiencing pregnancy or postpartum anxiety, depression, or simply adjusting to life as a new mother, counseling can help. Excessive worry, increase in anger or frustration, sadness, or feeling overwhelmed can all impact your ability to enjoy your pregnancy and journey through parenthood but you do not have to do it alone. I work collaboratively with you to increase understanding, increase confidence, decrease isolation, and restore harmony to your life.
Grief, Loss, and Trauma
I also have specialized training in birth trauma and grief for those who have more difficult experiences. This may include gender disappointment, miscarriage, infertility or fertility struggles, infant loss, traumatic birth, or infant health problems. These issues can bring up a variety of symptoms and make it difficult to enjoy other facets of life. I work with you to help regain strength and wellness. Each person may grieve and process loss differently. If you and your partner are working through bereavement, disappointment, or sitting in the unknown, counseling can help you better understand each other and support one another during this difficult time.
Couples Counseling
Starting a new family or growing your family is a time of celebration and excitement, but all transitions involve stress and can throw off your balance. If you and your partner are looking for support to reconnect, improve communication, and increase intimacy, counseling is a great way to build more tools and create a space to prioritize each other.
Couples Counseling
Along with sex and intimacy, there are many other aspects of relationships that can benefit from therapy. Each couple collaborates to create their own objectives and topics for sessions but here are some common things couples chose to work through in therapy:
- Restoring diminished connection
- Improve communication skills
- Problem solve around life events or challenges
- Process shared grief
- Address parenting concerns
- Explore blended family dynamics
- Support with extended family conflict
- Premarital counseling
- Peaceful separation or divorce
- Co-parenting after separation or divorce
I also offer collaborative couples or family counseling along side Kathryn Brown LMFT (or another therapist of your choosing). This is where we each work with one partner or family member and then collaborate (with permission) with each other on shared goals and understandings. We then meet as a group to ensure alignment and work through issues directly involving the couple or family. This allows for each person to have their own space to process and work through their personal goals while still getting the shared perspective of the other partner or family member.
Parenting Support
Parenting counseling offers valuable support across a wide range of challenges and milestones. It can help parents understand and align their personal values with their parenting style, ensuring a consistent approach that fosters a positive family environment. For those navigating the complexities of co-parenting or blended families, counseling provides strategies for effective communication, conflict resolution, and building strong, supportive relationships among all family members.
Solo or single parents can benefit from counseling by gaining tools to manage the unique pressures they face, such as balancing work and family life or addressing feelings of isolation. Additionally, parents of children with special needs can find tailored guidance to meet their child’s specific needs while also maintaining their own well-being.
Counseling can also assist with addressing behavioral issues, managing stress, and fostering emotional resilience in both parents and children. Ultimately, it empowers parents to create a nurturing and harmonious home where everyone can thrive.
Teens and Young adults
Transitions are a part of life and so many can happen during these years. I support teens and young adults in navigating changes, managing social and family demands, exploring their identity, learning new ways to manage stress, and more. I help clients find their voice so they can make decisions that align with themselves while providing a safe place to process thoughts and emotions as they arise.
